Can someone please tell me why I'm sitting here, playing Chefville on Facebook and reading other people's fics when I have Word open just waiting for me to continue on with the next chapter of Beloved? Hmmm? Every time I get a hint of what I want to write, I end up on another game page, instead. Me and the muse just ain't seein' eye-to-eye at the moment.

Anyone have some encouragement to offer? I'm easy. Maybe it's the impending snowstorm that's got me blocked. Yeah, that's it. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Drop on by with a shovel, folks. I'll lay out a spread of goodies and put up the hot chocolate.

Oh, same reason I have my Word open along with two stories in other fandoms by other people, a recipe for pizza pasta casserole, and spider solitare. Although, I do admit I did write a few paragraphs earlier.

How about a sentence challenge? Go to your Word and write one sentence. LOL

Hank (Summers) let out an angry breath of air. “My ex-wife (Joyce) died in February, Jennifer (his original character secretary). That’s what my daughter (Buffy) called to say, and that fucking stupid bitch (another original character) either lost the message or threw it away.”

I did it!

Welcome to my zoo, hon.

“Huh!” Buffy huffed. “Don’t ask me to be all ‘splainy about ghosty physics. I don’t have a clue as to how or why I can follow you anywhere, much less be touchy with things around me from time to time.”

One of the few little paragraphs I managed to cobble together. Still, better than nothing, I guess. *smiles*

I wish I had advice to offer... instead, I'm pretty much in the same boat... different time management game, though... and isnt it ironic that they're called "time management" games when all they do is EAT time? :P

I should be writing right now... instead I'm... stalling :P lol *sigh*

I feel your pain, love, I really do :P

OK, make it a game. Have a document open for each location and set a timer; you have to write one sentence in each location before the timer goes off.

Then go back and edit each of them, but add another half-sentence before moving on to the next. If another idea pops up, scrawl it down before getting on with the next point...

Well, I figured out one problem and corrected it - was using the wrong character voice to tell the tale. And right now, I am using a very weather appropriate icon. With luck, I'll get some substantial writing done. (Tries hard to make my ignorance look not so... well... ignorant. *grins*

Oh, I'm with you on the WIP tragedy. My fic had about three birthdays, as I recall.

One thing that worked for me was to let it stew in the back of my mind, and jot down bits of dialog as they came to me. Also, I'd write scenes that didn't seem to fit anywhere, that I later found a home for later in the fic.

I'm thinking about all you snowbound easterners, and keeping you in my warm thoughts.
