Joy to the World

Depression is an insidious thief. First it takes your happiness, later it takes friends and family from your life as you withdraw further into yourself. Maybe you all remember the hell I've been going through for the past handful of years. I've pushed away next to everyone in real life that I used to interact with, resulting in one lonely, little me.

Well, it's somewhat under control now, thanks to lovely Lexipro, and I've been trying to reach out more. My niece, Rebecca (dickwad's brother's daughter), who turned 24 yesterday, got married last Sunday. It nearly broke my heart not to see her and be there for her, but circumstances are what they are. However... I asked my kids to pass on my love and hope (and email address) and sure enough... I got an answer back and some lovely pics that I just have to share!!

Introducing Rebecca and Judah

The sheer bliss of knowing she wants me back in her life again makes me giddy. I'd quite forgotten what real happiness was. This is sooo cool!! *grins*

**squeaks** Thanks, sweet Gill. I am very thrilled about this. Gods, they're so young, aren't they?

What lovely pictures. They make a very handsome couple.

I hope you'll be able to see them in person soon - and lovely to hear from you.

Thanks, Deb. I can't wait to meet Judah... and to see my niece again. It's been way too long. It looks possible this summer when they move back somewhat near the area. **smooches**

Beautiful photo's of a lovely couple. I'm so glad to hear that things are beginning to turn around for you and that hopefully you'll be able to see them real soon. *hugs*

Thanks, Sue. They're moving back to New Jersey (not too far from here) in the summer, so there's a big possibility that we'll see each other soon. Makes me giddy and nervous... but overall, happy! *beams*

Gorgeous pictures! Thanks for sharing. Also, it's inspiring for me to read about other people overcoming depression. I completely understand everything you said and know how hard it is to pull yourself out when you feel that it has robbed you of everything worth pulling yourself out for. I'm thrilled for you, about Rebecca, and about your positive outlook.

It comes and goes in waves... that's what we have to keep remembering. That as bad as it is... it will get better and worse in turns, so we have to hang on through the changes.

Thanks for your kind thoughts, hon... and kudos to you, too - for dealing with your own stress and strife. **smooches**

Such beautiful pictures. Thank you for sharing them! And I'm glad to hear you're feeling better.

Thanks for caring, hon. And yes... she makes a beautiful young bride. *smiles*
Mar. 20th, 2007 01:47 pm (UTC)
Those are lovely. And she must be a nice young lady to remember that she was given your e-mail address, and post them so soon after her wedding - definitely a relative worth having, I am so glad for you that she wanted to be in touch.
Mar. 20th, 2007 06:42 pm (UTC)
Well, actually I emailed her first... but she answered me and that's what counts. She is a real sweet girl and I've missed her so much. *hugs*

Honey they look so happy. I am sorry that you didn't think you could be there but maybe this is a turning point. She sent pictures. Maybe this is the door that was needed.

My life is a whole convoluted mess... but yes, I think this could be a new beginning. Much needed. **hugs**

Thanks, Anite. I am, indeed happy.

Thanks for sharing those! I love your niece's dress, and am glad you are getting reacquainted with her.

I'm glad the meds are helping, too. It's no weakness to admit it's a problem in your life and seek help, whether it be counseling, medication, or both.
Mar. 21st, 2007 03:50 am (UTC)
I have no problem being on meds... it's the money and insurance needed to GET the bloody meds that was missing.

She really is glowing, my Becky. I can't wait to see her again. Hopefully this summer.

Ooh, pretty pretty!
Very nice.

I think you'll find that you *might* have pushed people away, but they're all still out there, just waiting for you to shuffle back in to their lives and say 'c'mon back'.

Thanks, Tab. We'll find out when I attempt to mend fences with her parents... or at least her mother. Her father is still shithead's brother, so it's not an easy sitch. **hugs you back**

I don't know you well, but I can understand being estranged from someone you care about. I am glad to hear that you are feeling better in your heart and mind and that you are speaking with your niece again. She's beautiful! How proud you must be.

Proud enough to bust buttons (or is that from gaining too much weight?).

Thanks for caring, Mel. One can never have enough of that in the world.

A beautiful bride. I'm not familiar with everything you've been going through with your family, but I'm glad for you that you've had this tender, tentative step toward reconciliation. Baby steps, right?
Mar. 21st, 2007 03:55 am (UTC)
Baby steps, indeed. Sometimes a little crawling doesn't hurt, either. **hugs you**

Beautiful pictures of your niece and her husband - they look really happy. I'm glad you're feeling better and that the meds are doing what they should be. I think you've been incredibly brave to start reaching out and trying to reconnect with people - it is always much easier to sit back and hope for them to get in touch, or just think that they wouldn't want to be bothered with you. It's really good to know that your niece still cares about you, and I hope that you soon get back in touch with other family members and friends.
